Why look for a Workable alternative

The entry price holds at $299 a month on annual billing, confirmed again on the official pricing page, and still climbs with the company's total headcount. This sweep adds Workable's MCP server, a documented integration that lets AI agents work with candidates, employees and HR workflows, though the vendor's own documentation and press release disagree on how many tools it exposes, so no figure is quoted here. Reporting and entry-tier support remain the weak spot, as this week's G2 and Capterra reviews still show.

What its own users repeat in the August 7, 2026 sweep:

  • The rate scales with the company's employee count rather than with recruiters, across nine bands, so hiring one more person can change the invoice (strong theme)
  • The $299 entry plan requires annual billing and the recruiting module alone: month to month it is 360, and texting, video interviews and assessments are billed separately on that plan (strong theme)
  • Custom reporting falls short, and the vendor itself acknowledged it when rebuilding it in February 2026 (strong theme)
  • It turns rigid as you scale: workflows are hard to customise for growing teams (present theme)
  • The AI is sold as separate credits that expire after a year and are non-refundable, and the free trial does not include them (present theme)

Best alternatives to Workable

What the internet says about each alternative

Ashby 4.2/5 · From $400

Ashby combines ATS, talent CRM, sourcing, scheduling and BI-depth analytics. Foundations costs $400 monthly for companies up to 100 employees and higher plans are quoted. Reviews value automation and reporting but warn about the learning curve and growing bill.

Where it wins: ATS, CRM, sourcing, scheduling and analytics share the same data layer Where it slips: Deep configuration requires more learning than a simple ATS

Greenhouse 4/5 · Price on request

Greenhouse centres hiring on structured interviews, scorecards and traceability. Its AI helps write, filter, summarise and source, with controls to disable features and keep decisions with people. Core, Plus and Pro are quoted by volume and complexity, with no public rate.

Where it wins: Structured interviews and scorecards make evaluation comparable across interviewers Where it slips: It publishes no rates and advanced configuration depends on a sales process

Paradox 3.4/5 · Price on request

For high-volume hiring it still works and buyers repeat it across three separate review sets: it cuts time to hire and removes the back and forth of scheduling interviews. Everything else in the picture is unchanged from a week ago. It still publishes no rate at all, the only way in is a sales demo, candidates complain about the bot at enough volume that outside researchers noticed, the 2025 security incident on the McDonald's portal is still the hardest argument against it, and its own FAQ page still stops short of calling Workday the owner, nearly a year after the acquisition closed.

Where it wins: Reference customers in mass hiring and a consistent pattern across three separate review sets: it cuts time to hire and removes the scheduling back and forth Where it slips: It publishes no rate at all: the pricing route redirects to the home page and the only way in is a sales demo with custom pricing
