Our verdict

Our verdict · By Serchai

Sage Active is the robust option for a Spanish SMB that wants accounting, invoicing, reconciliation and accountant collaboration in one system. Its OCR and Copilot provide material AI. It is more complex and expensive than Quipu or Anfix for issuing only a few invoices.

Best for: Spanish SMBs that want room to grow without replacing their accounting software.

Pros / Cons

Pros

  • OCR and Copilot in the accounting workflow
  • Spanish accounting and invoicing
  • Accountant collaboration

Cons

  • Starts at EUR 25 per month
  • More setup than a basic app
  • Designed for the Spanish market

Bottom line: Sage Active fits a Spanish SMB that needs proper accounting, invoicing, banking and adviser access in one system. It starts at EUR 25 per month. It is more software than a business needs for issuing only a few invoices.

What it does

Sage Active combines accounting, invoicing and cash management for companies operating in Spain. It imports bank transactions, proposes matches, captures invoice data with OCR and lets an external accountant work on the same records. Sage Copilot adds assistance and queries over business data.

The AI does not replace the accountant. It reads documents, proposes classifications and reduces mechanical review. A person still approves what reaches the books.

Real price

Sage publishes Active from EUR 25 per month. Check the final total for users, modules and current offer conditions. During the trial, test your actual bank feed and a representative batch of supplier invoices rather than judging the demo.

When to choose it

Choose Sage Active if the company has moved beyond basic invoicing, wants a complete ledger and works closely with a Spanish adviser. It also suits buyers who value controls and a long-established accounting vendor over the lowest monthly price.

It is not our first choice for a freelancer issuing a handful of invoices. Quipu or Anfix are lighter. Holded is stronger when CRM, inventory and projects matter as much as accounting.

The limitation

This is a robust system rather than a lightweight invoicing app, so setup and price are higher. Its regulatory advantage is specifically Spanish. A US company should compare QuickBooks Online, Xero and Zoho Books instead.
